Dealing with Cross-Eye Dominance Using a Rifle

by Tactical Hyve Cadre 2 Comments

In this video, former USCG Precision Marksmanship Instructor Billy Leahy shares two ways to deal with cross-eye dominance when using a rifle. In other words, how do you shoot a long gun if you are right-handed but left-eye dominant and vice-versa.

In a previous video, Navy SEAL “Coch” talked about dealing with cross-eye dominance with a pistol. Dealing with cross-eye dominance with a rifle is different.

I am right handed but left eye dominant however I am unable to close just my left eye. I don’t know why but I have always been like this. I am slowly learning to shoot my rifle with my left hand. It sure as shit hasn’t been easy.

You might want to consider wearing an eye patch or use dark lenses for your left eye if you are having a hard time shooting with your left hand.
